Voutilainen – The Art of Time
24.4.-29.9.2024
The exhibition about the life's work of master watchmaker Kari Voutilainen is on display from April 24 to September 29, 2024.
The exhibition narrates Kari's thoughts behind his watches. It showcases the watches he has manufactured, various types of watches, plans for watches, images, and videos. The exhibition includes Voutilainen's most important watch, number 1, which is a course watch.
The exhibition covers his graduation from the Finnish School of Watchmaking, the growth of his expertise, the development of his own first watches, mechanisms, and solutions, as well as the philosophy behind his work. Additionally, the exhibition covers the growth of Voutilainen's company and its move to its current location in the mountains.
He has expanded his company and expertise by acquiring other companies, including the Comblémine SA dial factory, Cattin SA watch case/prototype factory, a former watchmaking school in Switzerland, and the Urban Jürgensen luxury watch factory. He has also collaborated technically with major watch brands like MB&F and Zenith. Among Finnish brands, Voutilainen has collaborated with Leijona.
Voutilainen's expertise is respected worldwide. Kari Voutilainen has won ten of the watch industry's most prestigious category awards at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG). The Finnish Watchmakers' Association named him a grandmaster in 2014.
The exhibition also features Voutilainen X Leijona watches. Under Kari Voutilainen's handling, old models have been updated to timeless classics. The Leijona X Voutilainen collection focuses meticulously on details. The design communicates classicism, sportiness, and reminds us of time and its significance, which everyone can use in their own way.
Internationally, this retrospective exhibition is the first of its kind.
